Aloha again friends!!
Two weeks ago I shared our long road trip getting to Hawaii. If you missed it, click here and catch up on our adventures because today I’m sharing another Hawaiian vlog. I’ve been having a BLAST with these and hope you enjoy them too! You’ll need a few minutes so hang tight and enjoy all the beauty Hawaii had to offer 😉 Below the video I’ll include some of my iPhone photos from our outings (and a cute family photo), favorites places, delicious food, as well as what we hope to do next time!
Just landed in Maui!
Road to Hana – This was fun, but another long day. We spent about 12 hours in a tour van so by the end of the day we were all ready to get back to the pools and beach 😉 It was SUPER green. Zach liked the all the bamboo and I loved the rainbow eucalyptus. Such a neat tree! We also got the chance to swim in the Seven “sacred” pools which were freezing! As you might guess, we didn’t stay in long ha! What we didn’t expect to see was more desert, but there was. I shouldn’t have been so surprised though, because Kauai had a desert part too. One of the best parts was learning about natural remedies from a local who just so happened to be our tour bus driver! For instance, guava helps stop motion sickness/nausea. I even had to put it to the test on our dinner cruise and I’m happy to say that I wasn’t feeding the fishes again 😉 I count that as a win! This is something we would be interested in doing again, but would do the drive ourselves (with the help of an audio CD). That way we can pull off and do one of the hikes that goes up to an epic waterfall that came highly recommended.
Up nice and early for the Road to Hana!
Snorkeling with turtles – Swimming with the Honu was so freaking cool. Our experience this time a round was much much better haha They are so graceful and beautiful AND amazing. I could have spend all day watching them. Just below our hotel there was a little cove with a family of turtles. Since they live there, it made for a guaranteed sighting every time we went in! The first day we saw at least five and again, I almost ran into one. The second day we found a very curious Honu that got a little too close for comfort. This was definitely a highlight!
Luau – Most of our party was a little sun burnt and hot so when we showed up to the Luau and there was NO shade in sight we almost cried… it was a little toasty to say the least, but we had a great time. Zach finally got his REAL pig roast, we learned how to crack a coconut from start to finish as well as shredding the meat and making milk and now I’m tempted to try it. I LOVE coconut! Overall, the show was entertaining, but our favorite part was fire guy. We couldn’t believe anyone can do that and voluntarily too!
Sunset dinner cruise – We went out of the Lahaina marina and spent a little time before that browsing and shopping the cute town. Like I mentioned above, I used the guava trick and made it out alive, but we have decided that will probably be our last cruise. Zach and I just weren’t made for boats apparently or at least ones on the ocean! The food was so good and the sunset was unreal!
The last day 🙁
Favorite Shaved Ice – Local Boys Shave Ice
Things for next time – see the napping turtles on the beach, Haleakalā Crater (sunrise and bike tour), kayaking, and of course more snorkeling!
I cannot recommend the Wailea Beach Marriot resort enough. The location, venue, amenities, beaches, staff, etc were all fantastic! What a great experience it was. We can’t wait to go back!
